George and Ewart enlisted 4th Battalion East Yorks Regiment (Territorials) 1911-1916. They arrived Ypres 19.4.1915. George wounded 1.5.1915, discharged January 1916. Ewart (D company) killed 3.5.1915 aged 34, unknown grave, Menin Gate Memorial panel 21 and 34.
William, 2nd Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment (regular soldier 1909-1916), retreat from Mons, Mons Star (Old Contemptible), draft to 12th Battalion and Corporal 1916, Battle of Oppywood - P.O.W. Richard (18 years 1916) 1/3 Northumberland Field Ambulance - stretcher bearer, 1918 transferred to officers' mess duty till end of war. Frederick trained Beverley (East Yorkshire Depot) served with West Yorks Regiment in Gallipoli 1916, wounded leg, short period pension for malaria. Part of a collection relating to Richard Pindar R.A.M.C. (regimental number 390549) and George Pindar (regimental number 1156) 3/4th Batt. East Yorks regiment. |
