Written in pencil on over 20 pages from an exercise book 3 days after an event for which he was awarded a Bravery Certificate (submitted separately). A Corporal was wounded but tins in his haversack (submitted separately) saved his life.
Editor's Comment: Letter written 20th November 1917, sent 23rd November 1917 in a green 'Active Service' envelope. Transcript attached. Sapper 146217 Ernest Grantham, 156th Field Company, Royal Engineers. The 156th Field Coy. were attached to the 16th (Irish) Division. |
