Poetry in the trenches
The previous photograph shows a linking trench, but conditions in the sections where a soldier like Private Rosenberg spent much of his time would be equally cramped and dirty. This made writing poetry very difficult. This image is of a manuscript of the poem 'Daughters of War', written while Rosenberg was in France.
