Propaganda and Censorship were two key tools for the British Government in controlling the flow of ideas that came from the front, maintaining high morale and restricting the dissemination of information for military purposes. This was done legally using the Defence of the Realm Act, a piece of legislation that enabled state control of the media, amongst other things.
