Subject |
Blunden, Edmund (1896-1974)
|
Notes |
Another copy of a photograph of the group from 'The Feast of Five', described in 'Undertones of War' (1928), showing officers W. J. Collyer, H. Amon, E. W. Tice, A. G. Vidler and Edmund Blunden. Edmund notes that these were 'all Bluecoat-boys' from Christ's Hospital, and that the photograph was taken 'at St Omer, June 1917'. Tice's loss of a lover inspired Blunden's poem 'E.W.T.: On the Death of his Betty'. The book was compiled by Blunden with the intention of providing complementary photographs supporting the narrative and poems of 'Undertones of War' (1928), and was inscribed 'E.B. New Year, 1935' while Blunden was living in North Oxford, a neighbour of Graham Greene.
