The attached document contains transcripts of four letters published in the Coatbridge Leader from our ancestor Alexander Arnot who was in the 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. The first letter is dated 24th November 1914 and the last is dated 4th March 1915 and they describe conditions, events and feelings as he marched through northern France and Belgium. Finally there is a notice from the same newspaper in May 1915 annoucing his death. In fact he died in the battle for St Julien (just north-east of Ypres) on 25th April 1915 and we have found his grave in the Seaforth Cemetery there.
