Letter to son from mother awaiting his demobilisation. Mentions forms to get soldiers over 21 extr 5/- a week. States 'they will keep sending on form untill peace is declare - that is next June they say now [sic]'. Written after Armistice but before declaration of peace.
Walter Baynes (junior) served on the Somme. Brother (Arthur Baynes) served in the Navy. Father and mother - Walter and Bertha Baynes - ran china shop in Wakefield. |
