Notes |
The postcard was sent from my Great Uncle Arthur Cyril Gilman, Lancashire Fusiliers to his brother Herbert living in Salford, Lancashire. My Great Uncle was wounded in action and awarded the Silver War Badge. The postcard is embroidered and shows the allied war flags and contains the message 'February 23rd 1916 France. Dear Bert, We have had a hard time last Saturday night. The Germans attacked us, but we stopped them.'
