The letter expressed regret that the 46th Division would not be accompanying the Fourth Army to the Frontier, and praised its performance in recent operations, including "forcing the main Hindenburg line on the Canal, and the capture of the Bellenglise ranks", and "operations about Bohain, together with the advance beyond the Sambre Canal".
