My grandmother's two brothers, George and James Joplin were both involved in the war; they both returned to civilian life afterwards but James, the younger brother standing in the photograph James George Joplin had been gassed in France and suffered some sort of attacks for the rest of his life “ during an attack he would lay flat on his back on the floor.
