Shipwrecked Mariners' Society
During WW1, the Shipwrecked Mariners' Society provided financial support to
2,656 widows; 4,724 orphans; 1,122 aged parents and 50,917 sailors and
fishermen to the amount of £126,836 (just over £4 million in today's prices).
The Shipwrecked Mariners'Society continues its work to this day.
