Donation
“Dear Sir, Although I am at present serving in the Army, in civil life I
have a large shipping business, trading with all parts of the globe: the
success of my business therefore is dependent on the Mercantile Marine of
this country. I appreciate most gratefully the fact that it is due to the
great heroism and devotion to duty of our mariners that my business is still
able to be carried on in this, the fourth year of this great war, and I feel
therefore that is not only my duty but a very great pleasure as well to send
you the enclosed cheque for £25 as a thank-offering for the great blessings I
have received. Let me add that you may count upon me as an annual subscriber
to such extent as circumstances will permit.”
