One of five brothers, the sons of Arthur and Mary Perry from Tean in Staffordshire. They were my great-uncles. All served in the Great War. Edmund (Ted) was the only one who survived.
Lance Corporal Joseph Perry 12300, served in the 2nd Battalion, Highland Light Infantry, died 13/11/1916 aged 20yrs and is commerated on the Thiepval Memorial, Pier and Face 15C. Editor's Comment: The 2nd Bn. Highland Light Infantry, part of the 2nd Division, launched an attack on the 13th November 1916 on the first day of the Battle of the Ancre, the final phase of the Battle of the Somme. |
