Newspaper article dated in the margin December 12 1917 that records the award of the Military Medal for bravery and devotion to duty to Lance Corporal William Beacock, East Yorkshire regiment (at the Battle of Ancre November 13th 1916). Also reported is the card received on 1st January by the parents by Private Ernest Allison, Scunthorpe - their first news that he was alive albeit a prisoner of war (POW) since he was posted as missing on November 13th.
Part of a collection relating to Lance Corporal William Beacock, East Yorkshire regiment. He finished his working life as a doorman at the Hull City Hall. |
