Frederick George Peter Gedge served in the Royal Engineers. He was appointed Temporary Captain 3/11/1915. He is wearing the ribbons from his service with the City of London Imperial Volunteers in the Boer War. He was awarded the DSO in 1918. In the Second World War he was a Major in the Home Guard in Wimborne.
Editor's Comment: Note the 'T' below collar badges, signifying 'Territorial Force', also the private purchase 'Gor'blimey' cap, with flaps (here buckled up) to protect the ears and neck from cold. The meddal ribbons are those of the Queens and Kings South Africa Medal. Lieutenant (acting Major) Frederick George Peter Gedge, Distinguished Service Order, served with the 1st London Divisional Engineers. |
