Poem: 'The Battle of Gazza [sic]' by Pte JD Morgan

Poem written by Pte JD Morgan Somwhere at Gazza they laid them Somewhere at Gazza they fell Little we thought when we parted It was our last farewell Gone are the friends we loved so dear Silent the voices we love to hear They sleep in a lonely grave Far from the ones they loved so dear Somewhere at the Gazza they're lying They answered their country's call They all died as British heroes Tis the greatest death of all None knew how sad the parting Nor what the farewell cost But God and his loving angels Have gained what we have lost
