Fundraising

Amongst receipts from entertainments, the Committee have been gratified by the sum of £70, proceeds of a Flag Day organised by Mrs J Walker Atley at Normanton, Altofts and Whitwood (Yorkshire); £45 2s 9d, the results of a dramatic performance by the Northern Patrol at Kirkwall; £32 15s 2d, raised by a concert at Southampton, under the arrangements made by Mrs Coxwell, Lieut-Commander Grant RN, Lieut. Phelips RN, and Lieut. King RGA. A display of dancing given by the Chelsea College of Physical Education for Women produced £26 19s 4d, and a Flag Day at Portstewart, Co. Londonderry, resulted in £20 13s being remitted to the Central Office by Miss Lizzie Knox, who promoted it. A specially gratifying receipt should be given a prominent place, viz, of £30 8s, resulting from two ‘cinema’ performances, quite spontaneously arranged at the Front by Lieut-Colonel JH Thresher, MVO, Camp Commandant at the General Headquarters in France.
