Editor's Comment: Evelyn Diver (b.1894) lost her sweetheart, Pte. 292603 Harry Banks, 1st/7th Bn. Northumberland Fusiliers, on the 14th November 1916 (taking part in the attacks of the 50th Division in the closing phase of the battle of the Somme). Her diaries notice troop movements, costal defences, air-raids etc. |
