Joined HMS Ganges as a Boy Entrant aged 11 years; and then joined the Royal Navy. History shows that HMS Pathfinder was the first British warship to be sunk by a torpedo on September 5th 1914 (5.9.14) William's service record shows him as being on HMS Pathfinder from 16.5.1914 to 5.9.1914 |
