Editor's Comment:
Postcard with caption 'Moonlight on Pacific', 'Vancouver, B.C.'. Leading Seaman 7739A Robert Sinclair, S.S. "Ventmoor.", Royal Naval Reserve, was killed in action 14th February 1918, aged 31. He was the son of Robert and Barbara Sinclair, of Westray, Orkney, the husband of Mary Sinclair, of 22, Shore St., Kirkwall, and is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial. S.S. 'Ventmoor' sank in the Aegean Sea after being torpedoed on the 14th February 1918 by the submarine UC 37 (commanded by Otto Kümpel). |
