Letter sent by the family of Pte Wray (his sister I think) to Sid Morgan (my father) in France telling him of Sid Wray's death in action.
Editor's Comment: Pte. 23959 Sidney George Wray, C Squadron, 1st Troop, 16th Lancers, later transferred to the 1st Bn. East Surrey Regiment, taking a new regimental number (32541). Killed in action, 8th May 1917, aged 19. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on Bay 6 of the Arras Memorial. Driver 146147 S. Morgan, Royal Field Artillery, 23rd Division, served in No. 3 section, Divisional Ammunition Column, and later in V/23 Trench Mortar Battery. |
