Notes |
This rather over complicated rifle grenade was not very reliable in the trenches. The steel rod was placed into the rifle barrel, where it was held in place by the clip. On firing (using a blank bullet), the wind vane unscrewed due to the flow of air through the vanes. As the vane unscrewed, two studs were expected to fall out and thus release the firing pin. the pin was then held back from the detonator by a spring. On impact the firing pin hit the detonator setting off the charge - as long as it hit something solid with enough force!
