Cover page of Siegfried Sassoon's 'Picture-Show' (1919). The volume is inscribed to 'W. H. R. Rivers, from SS. 'a very nice man'...'. Rivers treated Sassoon for shell shock at Craiglockhart War Hospital near Edinburgh in 1917, and the two became friends.
