The headstone of Walter James Preston (cousin of Thomas Wakelin Preston), Who on returning from fighting in the warm climate of Salonika, was posted without any extra warm clothing to the cold winter climate of Scotland. Subsequently he then caught Pneumonia and died at Crayleith Military hospital.
Editor's Comment: Corporal 21688 Walter James Preston, Royal Field Artillery, died 6th April 1919 aged 32, and is buried in Fleckney (St. Nicholas) Churchyard. |
