494 Sergeant Joseph Cecil Thompson, French postcard portrait, 1916 or later. Served Gallipoli, Egypt, France and Belgium and returned to Australia in 1919.
Editor's Comment: The colour and shape of patches on the upper sleeve indicate Thompson's Battalion. The crown above chevrons show that Joseph Thompson held the appointment of Company Quater-Master Serjeant. Note that the Australian Imperial Force only wore appointment badges on the right sleeve. |
