SS Cairntorr
At Eastbourne on March 21, after the sinking of the ss Cairntorr by the
enemy, the rescued seamen were conveyed in motor cars belonging to EW Lovely
and Co Ltd, who not only refused to make any charge but promised to act in a
similar manner should further contingencies of the sort occur and Dr Macaulay
would accept no fee for attending one of the crew who was injured.
