Notes |
My grandfather, Charles Hinds, came from Liverpool. I don't know which regiment he was in, but he was given this silver matchbox by a Major Sheath. The inscription reads "C.S.M.I. Hinds from Major Sheath Oct 1916".
Editor's Comment: Bombardier / Acting Company Serjeant Major (Instructor) 669 Charles Hinds, Army Gymnastic Staff. Captain William Archibald Sydney Sheath, Liverpool Regiment (later promoted Major, on Staff). |
