A typewritten letter from Mrs Christiane Alder of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to Mr P. N. Farrar, answering a query about Private Charles Green. The letter says that no grave could be located for Private Green, and hence he was commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in France, along with over 70,000 others who lost their lives in the Somme area.
Part of a collection relating to Charles Green, who served as a machine gunner with the 7th Battalion of the East Yorkshire Regiment, and was killed on 8th February 1917. |
