The paintings are from a collection painted by the grandfather of Sister Frances Dominica, the founder of Helen & Douglas House,the hospice for children and young adults in Oxford. Dr John Ritchie was not a painter by profession but the Medical Officer for Health in Dumfriesshire. He painted people and scenes during his war years.
