That jacket survives!

On his chest, by the end of the War, the officer pictured in the previous photograph wore medal ribbons of the Military Cross (with rosette signifying a 'bar' or second award), the 1914/15 Star, the War medal, and the Victory medal (with oak leaf signifying some bravery i.e. he was 'Mentioned in Dispatches'). On his lower left arm are two Wound Stripes. The four Overseas Service Chevrons on lower right (the three blue chevrons) indicate three years service, the red one shows service overseas before 31st December 1914. The cuff rank (two bars of braid and three pips) shows the rank of Captain.
