Thistle badge - a Formation Sign
This soldier from the Manchester Regiment, transferred to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers, ending the war as a Sapper in the Royal Engineers - here on his left arm he wears the thistle patch of the 9th (Scottish) Division on his shoulders.
